MFL Statement of Intent
Children will be taught French as a modern foreign language in Key Stage 2. In the increasingly multicultural and globalised world that we live in and with the cultural isolation that our children grown up in, it is imperative that we awaken children’s interests in other people and cultures at a time when they are open and receptive. It is also proven that an early start in language learning with sustained experience in the subject gives children the potential to lead to higher levels of proficiency as they start secondary school. It is also hoped that language learning could drive aspirations and open doors for a future job in our global economy.
